To no one's surprise, the Washington Nationals picked one of the most hyped prospects ever in Stephen Strasburg from San Diego State. Perhaps the bigger question is whether or not we call him Strasburg the Signable? Personally, I think the Nats took too big of a risk, but I understand why they did. If you've read anything in the last of week concerning draft busts, I don't think history is on his side. For the Nats' sake, I hope I'm wrong.
Today was a very busy in the sporting world. Playoffs...rivalries..Bret Favre. That and more.
-Pittsburgh fights to live another day in the Stanley Cup playoffs, holding on for a 2-1 win and forcing a game 7. I love Game 7 playoff hockey; Stanley Cup game 7 hockey is the ultimate!!
-If anyone thought the Lakers would have it easy-think again. Orlando shoots over 62% and beat the Lakers. We're heading towards mid June and the NBA is still going on. As is hockey. At this rate, baseball might finish before these two sports.
-Big news out of SoCal: USC basketball coach Tim Floyd resigned today after reports of major NCAA violations, including those involving OJ Mayo. Some of the feeling now that Memphis is also being investigated-is the one and done rule really good for college basketball? Derrick Rose, now OJ Mayo...was it really worth it??
-Brett Favre had shoulder surgery, prompting major speculation of yet another comeback. Favre's agent still insists he will stay retired, but Minnesota is pushing hard to try and make Favre their QB.
-Red Sox-Yankees again this week. As great as this rivalry is, does anyone really care about it until it means something in September??
We'll...we did survive Tuesday. Can we survive a wacky Wednesday??
Jp
